Outdoor Therapy Environment

If you have the opportunity to set up an outdoor environment, listed is some equipment that might be beneficial. Although studies have shown that time spent in the wild is the most beneficial for children, an outdoor therapy environment is a good way to introduce children to nature, in a controlled way. And the experience of interacting with nature, planned or not, may help to build confidence and comfort that will carry over to more authentic experiences in the future. This type of controlled environment also allows the therapist to make sure that all children can participate, regardless of ability. Taking children outside also offers a change for everyone. A writing activity becomes more interesting if it can be done at an outdoor picnic table instead of a desk and chair. Also, remember: if you have enough equipment available outside, almost every activity that you would do indoors can be taken outside!
